Absolutely chilling. The narration keeps it real and crisp and clear. And the pacing and construction is so very clever, it's a delightful puzzle, with the clue given right at the end: make the short journey upstream. I also enjoy in contrast the terrible simplicity of the "adventure" in itself, a gory mystery, and the impressive juxtaposition of colours brought by the story: red and blue, alternating, clearing and disappearing. And your Twelve's voice is haunting, quite terrifying as well in its thriftiness, well found. In the end, it could be a minisode. I loved it. Thank you for sharing this remarkable fic!
Favourite line: Silence returned. The river ran red. So ominous and vivid. I like the binary rhythm and liquid alliteration a lot -well, in French it is a liquid.
