As well as a pub whose loss is to be mourned, there was a bus terminal plus petrol station/car wash thing on the corner. This was abandoned, then occupied by squatters, then reclaimed and finally demolished. Then Lidl applied for planning permission.

We have been waiting for our Lidl to appear.

Six sentences (actually six this time! I can count!) from the next chapter of The Secret Marriage:

"You call Svetlana first," Shane says. "I still have to work out what I'm going to tell Hayden."

They're sitting side by side on the bed, backs against the headboard, but, unusually for Shane when in this bed in particular, his attention is not focused on Ilya. He has a paper notepad balanced against his knees, and he's spent the past few minutes jotting down bullet points and then crossing them out again. Now he has a list titled 'Tell Hayden', followed by about half a page of scribble.

"You just tell him the truth," Ilya says, letting his hand stray onto Shane's thigh.

Here in Japan, it's already Easter Sunday.

My social media is full of people holding their breath and hoping that it's time to pop the champagne amid rumors that Trump might be at Walter Reed, and he posted something on Truth Social about JD Vance's approval ratings, which he would never typically do.

On the other hand, he was posting things about "reigning" (sic) down fire on Iran if they did not open the Strait. He has a tendency to do things on Friday nights so that the news will be slower but have time to adjust before the opening of the markets on Monday. However, he is also a malignant narcissist whose spiritually deluded closest people are constantly comparing him to Jesus and suggesting that he was chosen to save the country from some kind of worse fate when he is actively making everything in the world worse, especially for Americans.

There are currently rumors about a traffic block going to Walter Reed hospital, accompanied with a media appearance cap for Trump, starting on Friday, which is unusual for a holiday weekend.

So, I am fearful that either a lot of people are having their hopes up that this man is finally succumbing to his own filth and will be disappointed and/or that he is planning to do something even more violent and catastrophic in Iran, which will embolden other autocratic powers such as Russia to do even more than they already have.

Those of you who pray or do spiritual work, please join with me in asking for protection for every person who deserves it in the world and consequences and obstacles from all of those who've never once sought grace or peace in their lives.

First few days back to work are always a slog of meetings mostly in Japanese. They've been doing a better job about projecting real time machine translation in addition to our few brave bilinguals trying to translate in a Google doc.

Today, Saturday, was for some fucking reason scheduled as a mandatory work day for which were getting a comp day next Monday, so even though nothing was scheduled we had to use PTO to take today off. After a little reluctance, I did.

I'll get granted my new bank of PTO days for the year soon.

Monday will also hopefully be just a peaceful admin work day. I hope.

I've still been having weird mood shifts that I can't quite identify the reason for. Transition and change are hard even when their content is neutral.

Haven't had as much luck being creative for the past few weeks. Felt an inkling of drive today but after some voice call socialization with my couple closest friends, I just feel like it's nap time. Tomorrow is Easter, and I would like to go to church. Wish I had a cute outfit but that would be too much effort unless I discover that something I have is cute.

I always get sick around Easter, and these past couple weeks I keep getting a phlegmy cough. Maybe this explains some of my mood issues too: fatigue from minor illness? I don't have official allergies.

Right now I feel pretty okay but wish I felt like making progress on games or creativity. I also just enjoy the quiet and peace to listen to documentaries or nothing at all and wrap up in blankets since I don't get actual human touch.

Reading: Just started a Georgette Heyer novel, These Old Shades. I'm convinced from what people have told me, and the many people I know who love Georgette Hayer novels, that I should be highly enthused by them, but so far all the one's I've read I've been quite take-it-or-leave-it about. Still, I persevere.

Listening: 13 Minutes to the Moon on the Artemis launch. I like the 13 minutes to the Moon series, though it has strayed a long way from the initial premise of presenting the first Moon-landing framed by analysis of the audio from the 13 minutes of the landing itself. In this case, I'm more than a little fascinated to know what they are going to do if Artemis II doesn't, in fact, launch as scheduled this evening.

Watching: We are a little moribund. We managed to locate Midsomer Murders on itvx, were pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of Marmalade Sparrow's ad-blocker, and added Morse and the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes' to the set of things we watch when we've no better ideas. But I can't help feeling we should find something to watch that has been made in the last 20 years...

Author's Notes: I started this one just after "Dark Water"/"Death in Heaven" aired but never finished it because I thought, no one wants to think about this. But yesterday,

romanajo123 showed me Big Finish's announcement of a Torchwood audio with Cyber-Ianto on the cover. Now, who knows what BF actually did (it's probably just Ianto having to dress up as a Cyberman; they've done this kind of thing before), but it got me thinking about how Ianto actually was cyberized and reminded me of this story. Modern Shivver has no qualms about offending people with her stories, so I finished it up and here it is!

But think about it, this is entirely canon: the Cyber-pollen hit every cemetery in the world, so every beloved character who died before this episode was cyberized: not just the Brigadier but Amy, Rory, Sarah Jane, Ianto, to name a few. So, here's the story of two of them.

And just saying, I love it when I get to put "Major Character Death" on a fic. Plus, this also has the F/M relationship tag. 400 words and it hits both ends of the spectrum.
