Title: Good Vibrations
Characters: Liz Shaw, Third Doctor
Word Count: 266
Rating: G
Spoilers: None
Warnings: N/A

Vibrations tremble through the ground, as countless crab people shake their bodies to some modern pop music. To Liz, this music was unfamiliar, yet oddly catchy. Their chitinous bodies shone bright in the neon lights.

The Doctor moved subtly from side to side, silently watching the dancers. He looked at her, and winked. Liz wondered whether he had informed the Brigadier that there were secret alien races enjoying the youth clubs of the world. The Brigadier wouldn't have believed it.

She tugged at her suit's collar. In this raucous environment, her UNIT clothes felt out of place.

"Is there any point to me being here? I have experiments to complete," said Liz. She had never been a party girl, even though the pulsing music threatened to break her resolve. Part of her wanted to join the crowd, even though she would be out of place.

"We spend so much time hunting aliens. This is a reminder not all of them are bent on destruction," said the Doctor. His eyes focused on her, peering into her. Liz thought he was about to go into a speech about the goodness of alien kind, but he didn't. He just stared at her, like he was daring her to contradict. She stared back, the music thumping through ears. Her hands felt it through the rails, and her feet sensed the people underneath.

"So, you're saying" said Liz, still staring back, "the rest of them want to dance?"

The Doctor grinned. His gaze went from razor sharp, to a warm laugh. He nodded.

"All the best ones do," said the Doctor.
