Summary: Jenny is dying, she needs a DoctorJenny's stomach lurched as she forced down a spoonful of yogurt. Yuck! Who would even think about eating this! As she thrust another spoonful in her mouth she cringed in disgust. Jenny immediately tapped the trash basket with her foot and threw the contaminated slime into it, where it belonged.
She sighed and fell on her back in the hospital bed. The room was dull: white plastered walls and bright lights. Or at least that’s what the nurses had told her. Jenny couldn’t really tell because she was blind. Her sight had started failing her a few weeks ago and then it was gone. Luckily, a good samaritan had gotten her to this hospital before she was running blind on the streets.
The doctors said that she had contracted a deadly disease, the Ghost. And of course, she smiled and brushed it off saying that it was due time for a regeneration, but she was wrong. The Ghost disease had apparently been eating away at her body ever since Messaline where it was native to. It was also virulent. There was once a saying that the only known cure was gas from the heart of an exploding star, but had never been proven. At that moment, she came to the conclusion that she wouldn’t be able to regenerate like her father. So she cried. That was the only thing she could do.
As she wiped the tears from her eyes, her fingernail caught on a thread from the bandage on her face. Frustrated, she pulled it away furiously and the bandage that covered her face was ripped off. The pain struck her like a million, little needles. Another side effect, common air particulars burned her flesh. Jenny quickly pressed the cloth back around her head, sat up, and sighed in relief.
Suddenly, her yogurt from early spews out from her mouth. She tried to stop its flow, but it was no use. The goopy liquid felt warm on her legs. Jenny winced and stood frozen as she listened to the constant beeping of the monitor she was hooked up to. She knew this would happen if she ever tried to eat. The Ghost wouldn’t let her consume anything or else it would throw it right back up, but she still thought it was worth a try. Jenny sighed. She was sick and no nurse or physician could cure her.
“Come on Jenny. Time for your medicine.”
“Who are you?”
“It’s me, James. Your nurse. Oh, look at what you’ve done to yourself! Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.”
Jenny felt hands wrap around her waist and back then her bed. James had always been a bit of a gossip but Jenny could help but believed him when he said that the whole planet had moved and they were right next to a planet called Earth. She had heard rumors from the whole staff. Jenny clutched her stomach.
“We need to leave.”
“What darling?” James inquired.
“I need to leave.”
“Why?”
“I need to find someone.”
“But if you leave the hospital you will die.”
“James, please. He can help me!”
She could tell James didn’t want to but she needed to find Him. If there was trouble He would be there. Suddenly, James’ arms wrapped around her again. Her hands felt the bar of a wheelchair.
“Okay, but we need to get you cleaned up first.”
“You’re gonna take me?”
“Of course! I always wanted to go on an adventure! Who are we looking for?”
“Just a family member of mine.”
“Gotta name?”
“The Doctor. I need the Doctor.”
