Author’s Note: I’ve never tried writing ‘gore’ (if that’s even how it is classified) before so any advice is greatly appreciated! :D“Let me go!” Bill screamed at the top of her lungs. She glanced at Razor for help but he had never been on her side in the beginning. She turned back to the Surgeon and Nurse. Doctor, how much longer must I wait? I’m afraid. I don’t want to die.
“You don’t have to worry,” The Nurse chided as the patients’ grips on Bill tightened. “It will be over soon and it’s for your benefit anyway.”
“But I don’t want to change!” Miraculously, Bill was able to pull herself away from the patients. “Don’t touch me!”
“A feisty one, hmm?” The Surgeon chuckled. He plucked a small scalpel and dragged it along the inside of his finger. The incision was precise and drew blood instantly, even through his thick, latex glove. “We can change that quick enough. There no need for emotions: comfort, fear, or happiness with the development of my latest creation.”
The patients seized Bill, but she fought back. She kicked and screamed and pulled at the patients’ equipment which had been fused to their mechanical bodies during their operations. She snagged a tube attached to one of the patients and pulled as hard as she could. It ripped out from the patient, releasing a powdery white gas, and he crumbled to the ground. Bill was not going to die without a fight. She promised the Doctor she’d wait for him and she would not break her word. God only knew that he wouldn't break his.
Still, in the patients' clutches, Bill latched onto the side of a medical cart and in the process knocked over copious medical instruments. They hit the floor with a glass shattering sound and the once powdery fog enveloped the room. Bill thought that she had knocked over a beaker containing a chemical mixture which amplified its thickness. The thick fog know gave this terrifying room an even more alarming atmosphere. The Nurse chuckled and whispered something to the Surgeon. Bill, unable to find the door, grouped around her until she found a wall. She clung to that wall for dear life. Where there was a wall, soon there would be a door.
“Please!” Bill begged. “Doctor! Doctor, where are you!?!”
“But the doctor is right here,” Razor replied, slightly confused. The fog was just clear enough to see make out his distinct features. “It's for your own good. Please believe me, I brought you to make you better.”
“But I don’t want to be well again! I perfectly fine the way I am. That man right there is going to kill me!”
The patients’ mechanical hands clasped onto her shoulders, arms, and month. This time, she could not escape. They dragged her over to the Surgeon and his operating table.
“No,” The Surgeon interjected. “You must be upgraded. Humans are too complex to ever survive longer than a hundred years. And you my dear, will be the beginning of a new age. The age of Cybermen. ”
The patients lifted her up on the operating table while she wailed helplessly through their fingers. Bill prayed that someone, anyone would come to her aid.
“Oh please! Would you shut up?” The Nurse scolded. “You’re going to wake the whole city with that racket.”
Bill hoped she would, she was unable to do anything else. She contorted her body on the operating table as they tightened the restraints: they felt rough and unbreakable to her. She tried to free herself but to no avail. The Surgeon stuffed a piece of cloth in her mouth. Bill could taste an old and bloody residue which had seemed to be one with the cloth. She figured it had been used by the patients before her.
“Is that better Nurse?”
“Much.”
“Do not worry Bill.” Razor voice sounded from the other side of the room. “It is painless. I think.”
The bright medical light blinded her and the Surgeon loomed over her. As her eyes adjusted, he smiled at her like a murder smiles at his victim just before the slaughter.
“Not exactly. This will be very painful. But you won’t have to worry about that after we’re done.” The Surgeon picked up a larger scalpel and pulled up her shirt to expose her midsection. “First, I will take out all your internal organs and replace them with mechanical inventions with will simulate their original functions. Then I will work on the metallic outside casing. Does that make sense, Bill?”
Tears began to stream down her face as the Surgeon made the first incision at the base of her midsection. The pain erupted instantly and Bill gasped. She swallowed her cry as the blood began to pour out from her. She was losing a lot of blood and could feel it’s cruel warmth caressing her bare skin. She rolled her eyes away from the blinding light and drowsily locked eyes with Razor. His eyes were somewhat sympathetic, but there was also a hint of triumph which she didn’t understand. He then left the room leaving her with the Nurse and Surgeon.
Bill would never be able to escape. She’d never get to see the rest of the universe. She’d never be able to ask Penny out again. The pain of her upgrade soon became numb because of her new found revelation. She would be upgraded. She would be scared. And she would most likely die.
Again, there was a sudden outburst of pain which nearly knocked her out. With the explosion of agony came a choking on blood. The cloth sucked up some the blood that flooded into her mouth, the rest mingled with her saliva. Bill could feel herself slipping into unconsciousness as she looked back up at the Surgeon. In his hands were most of her internal organs drenched in blood and bile. The sight of her insides terrified her more than anything she had seen with the Doctor.
“Whoops!” The Surgeon chortled and dropped them on the floor. “Didn’t mean to take them all out at once. Oh well, I’ll be more careful next time. Time for the installment.”
The splattering sound of her organs hitting the floor sent her over the edge. She could no longer stay conscious and fell deep, deep into herself. It was over. She would die on an operating table in space being converted into one of those patients. She’d never see her friends on Earth again. Bill still hoped the Doctor would show up at the last minute and rescue her from this horror, this devilish nightmare. But how much longer would he be? She couldn’t hold on much more.
Doctor, I’ve waited so long …. I’m so scared. I don’t want to die. Please, Doctor … I don’t want to die alone.
