Title: Empty Night
Rating: PG
Genre: general
Word Count: 256
Pairings or Characters: Rory-centric, mentions of Rory/Amy
Warnings: Fluffy/sad Rory. Spoilers for Series 5.
Summary: The lack of stars means the nights are empty now and Rory has to endure every, single one of them...alone.
Nights were the hardest for Rory to endure. During the day the sky was filled with clouds or the expanse of brilliant blue that hid the truth. However, at night, Rory would look up at the sky and see nothing. The stars had gone out and he had seen it happen. The memory haunted him throughout the centuries, but there was nothing as lonely as that big expanse of black.
It was during the night that Rory would question what he had done and what he had become. Would Amy still care for him after all of this time? She didn’t even remember him. Would he still be the same man after becoming plastic and living for centuries? Would he even be able to make it to the “appointed” day. The Doctor hadn’t seemed to think so. But, Rory was determined to wait for her. He would wait for her night after empty night if he had to.
Rory leaned back against the impossible prison box, closing his eyes and trying to remember the stars. He was probably the last human to remember them now. He thought about the times, in another life, when he had looked at them with Amy. Holding hands as they lay out on a blanket sometimes saying nothing, sometimes talking about everything. He did the same thing now as he sat with the box, talking to Amy even though he was pretty sure she couldn’t hear him. It was the only way to pass the nights any more.
