One mind. One body. Two wills.
It's getting crowded in here. It's a good thing I'm not claustrophobic.
Putting up mental barriers is easy. I've been doing it for years, to protect myself from all the memories I don't want to see. You might say that I'm an old hand at building walls.
It's much more difficult when there's someone else inside this head. Someone who wants to pick apart those memories like carrion. There's so much I need to hide. But I don't know what the Cyberplanner's already seen.
The Name was the first to be sealed away, the very instant this infestation began. My Secret of Secrets, more dangerous than a venom-sapphire. That's strictly off-limits, no questions asked.
With so many thoughts at stake--to say nothing of lives--I have to pick and choose which to lock away. Which are more valuable? Which are more likely to help me win?
Which memories will save us all...and which ones could kill us all?
When the Cyberplanner is in control, I'm aware of what's going on. I can hear and see everything that he hears and sees, but I can't fully interact. It's like being underwater...no...bad comparison. It's more like being encased in amber, just without the suffocate-y bit.
There are two games being played. Externally, it may be Chess. But it's Dots and Boxes on the inside: We race to see who can claim each precious scrap of data first. Things are moving too quickly to anticipate moves very far in advance. With just under half a mind to myself, I can't spare the brainpower, anyway; I'm already stretching myself perilously thin.
