Title: 'Wrath'
Rating: G
Genre: Character Study
Word Count: 296
Pairings or Characters: None--well, sort of noneish; it's an experiment in being Tricky.
Spoilers: Takes place just before 'A Good Man Goes to War'
Warnings: None
Summary: Neither Space in all its vastness, nor Time, nor any armies or weapons you amass...none of it will turn him away.
Welcome to the brink. Welcome to your own breaking point. You've brought it on yourself.
You've finally pushed him past the point of reasonable endurance. You had the gall to threaten those he treasures. Now there's Hell to pay...and you can't afford the fee.
Don't blame him for becoming the bane of your existence. You did that yourself.
Nothing will stop him now. Not now that you've made him truly angry. Neither Space in all its vastness, nor Time, nor any armies or weapons you amass...none of it will turn him away.
Oh, you fools. You were warned. And you didn't listen. What will save you now? Who will grant you mercy?
Pray to whatever gods you believe in. And hope that your gods will listen.
Because he will not.
Idiots that you are, you never expected the opposition to be so strong. You should have known better. From his side, from his protection, you plucked the one he cares for the most. You stole two gems from him all at once, knowing what you were doing.
But unaware of the cost.
He's coming now. Coming for you. And, yes, he's arriving with backup. And, yes (again), you're right to be afraid of the backup.
But to be more afraid of the backup than of him? Simpletons. Blatant simpletons, all of you, to the very last man and woman.
Because there was no way in this or any other universe that you could ever have expected to make off with the wife and unborn child of the Last Centurion with so much impunity, and think that you could go unpunished.
Yes, be afraid. But be afraid of the right man.
Rory Williams is coming to Demon's Run.
And he wants his family back.
Right. This. Minute.
