The first level beneath the centre control was easy. Everyone could see that one. A vast open space full of wires connecting all the parts of the console together in whatever weird way made them go. It was a minefield of cables all coming in and out at different points. To track one caused more of a headache then trying to negotiate Spaghetti Junction in rush hour blindfolded.

It was a level below. . . Levels below that were a curiosity. In her head Amy had mapped out as much of the TARDIS as she could, noting the major routes; from here to her room, and the kitchen, but that still left huge spaces left unaccounted for.

Amy got the impression that even the Doctor didn’t know his way around the TARDIS. That he hadn’t a clue how rooms she had, and where they were exactly. He’d spoke of a swimming pool, said he had to jettison it a few regenerations back. She’d questioned him about his rooms, but he failed to answer. He always failed to answer the more personal questions.

Amy sighed. The only way, she decided, she was ever going to find out what’s down below is to go explore. . .

Of course it would be easier with a map, but that was out of the question. And that destroyed the sense of adventure. . .Not that Amy had any left after being 3 hours into the search and finding nothing. The TARDIS’ twisty corridors had drained much of it out of her, and had almost erased her original plan. All the TARDIS was a blank space. Like an empty flat waiting to be furnished; endless walls of potential.

The Doctor probably threw the map into a supernova along with the manual; if there was even one to start with. The Doctor had explained the TARDIS herself was living and had control over as much of the decor as the Doctor. Probably more.

And Amy realised that was her problem exactly. The TARDIS wasn’t playing her game. For whatever reason, the TARDIS wasn’t allowing her to explore her lower levels. She was turning Amy about herself, down corridors, over landings, up and down stairs, concealing every door, hiding every secret, keeping her mysteries. And it was working, Amy thought dizzily. She doubted she could find her way back to the console room.

Upon thinking about the console room, Amy found herself on the stairs leading back up to that very room. As she climbed the stairs she wondered when the TARDIS was going to open up to her.

OHh, love this!! And it would make sense, really: the TARDIS hiding Her (and Her Pilot's) secrets. Until She is sure.

Well done! Lovely answer to the prompt!

This is so good!! The Tardis confusing Amy seems a lot like what she would do to somebody. Have you seen the little clip of the Tardis messing with Clara? It's really funny and your story reminded me of that. By the way, great job with this!!

Good Amy POV and also I like how the TARDIS isn't willing to give up her mysteries just yet. She must be waiting for the Pretty one.

Aw, I feel bad for your Amy, wanting to connect with the TARDIS, the Doctor's world, but being shut out. Nicely done!

Great concept for the theme! I love pieces where the TARDIS is as central a character as the others. Well done!
