Title: New Memories

Summary: On Pete’s World, a snapshot of the Doctors new and complicated life.

“That’s getting to be real annoying.” Rose said with an exasperated sigh.

“What is?”

“You. Your pacing. Can you just- I dunno, take a deep breath?”

The Doctor looked up at his fiancée, just now realizing he was in fact pacing the room.

“Sorry. So sorry, but wait a minute. I am not sorry! Why should I apologize? This is our wedding! Rose, it’s tomorrow. The wedding is tomorrow and I’m not even remotely prepared. I mean I’m prepared to marry you, any day, but what about your dress?! It was supposed to be finished weeks ago! I mean, you need a dress to have a wedding!” the Doctors eyes looked frantic as he tried to arrange all the wedding planning details.

“Hey,” Rose placed her hand on his shoulder. “slow down, everything’s gonna turn out fine. I’ll marry you in my jumper if I half to. Normally it’d be the bride who’s freaking, what’s going on with you?”

“It’s just, last time I had a wedding it kinda all fell apart. You know in your average spiders eat your new husband after he tries to kill you kind a thing. No wait-that wasn’t me. That’s Donna. I’m sorry, sometimes they get mixed up. Mostly there all my memories, I mean the Doctors, the other Doctor. You know what I mean. And mostly the only thing I inherited from Donna was personality, but sometimes, I get her memories. Mostly in dreams, sometimes they come on from seeing an object that was important to her, it’s all so confusing. It wasn’t supposed to be this hard on you, I am so sorry.”

Rose wrapped her arms around the Doctor in a warm hug, “Don’t apologize. I thought I would never get to see you again. I thought I had lost you forever, now here you are standing right in front of me. And even if you are part Donna, part human, I will never love you any less. Now listen here, I know you’re freaking out, I know sometimes your human side makes you a bit different, but you’ve changed on me before, and I still wanted you. You can change how you look, how you act, but one thing will never change. You. You are who you are, nothing holds you back, and that’s what I love about you. Doctor, I want to fight every battle side by side with you. I want to live with you, I want to die with you, I want to be with you.”

Rose paused and grabbed his hand in between hers.

“And not just Time Lord you, you’re part human now, and I want to love that part too. Because that’s you now. So come on, lets leave the wedding planning for a bit, because tomorrow, you are never getting rid of me. You ready to make some of your own memories?”

The Doctor felt tears welling up in his eyes, he had told himself he would be strong, that he wouldn’t let himself cry at this beautiful time. But he couldn’t stop it, he was just too happy to be standing by her side.

And for the first time, he really gave in to his human side.
