Title: Balancing Act
Rating: G
Genre: genfic
Word Count: 221
Pairings or Characters: River, hints of River/Doctor
Warnings: Might be hinting to spoilers about River, but nothing is explicitly stated
Summary: River must always keep a balance with the Doctor.
There was a delicate balance to her relationship with the Doctor. Something that was so very important to maintain because of who she was and what she was. There was so much more to it than that, however because nothing involving the Doctor was ever simple. It was not just about the Doctor though, no, it was much more complicated and involved so many other people’s destinies being twisted into her own.
It was so hard for her, meeting him out of order. It hurt, because deep down she really did want to tell him everything. She wanted to warn him about the pain and trouble she would cause him. She wanted to see his face light up with the stories of the people they would help and the adventures they would have. Even just to tell him her real name, but even just that one thing was forbidden, at least for now.
River had long since learned that balance was everything: a balance between past and future, friend and foe, knowing and the unknown. So, she wrote down everything and when the time was right she would smile, wink, and greet him with a "Hello Sweetie." Because there was also a balance to that: letting the Doctor get closer and pushing him further away from the truth and her.
